Abstract

Introduction: The burnout syndrome is wide extended among medicine men, although, there´s no exist specific studies about this professional group in Arequipa City. Objective: In the present study, we pretend to value the prevalence of the syndrome in medic local personnel and analyze comparatively its manifestations. Method: We applied Burnout Maslach Inventory to 87 participants (65.5% male and 34.5% female) with an average age of 35 years old, who were selected in a non-probabilistic way. Results: The 6.9% of the sample presents severe levels of the burnout syndrome, and there are no significant differences according to sex, time of service and economic income, but there were significant differences according to marital status and place of work.
