Abstract
One of the main reasons for the low consumption of fresh shelled maize is the cost of labour and occupational accidents caused by shelling with sharp tools. On the other hand, customers prefer to buy shelled maize because it facilitates the preparation of various dishes, but they of ten cannot find it in the markets. Therefore, the objective is to propose a design of an automatic processor to increase the production of shelled fresh corn and its implementation. This automatic processor shells, weighs and packs the fresh maize kernels where product quality, time and presentation are prioritised. In addition, no operator intervention is required throughout this process. A prototype was implemented and simulations were carried out in computer-aided design programmes, as well as using Proteus Design Suite for the electronic part.
