Abstract

The main aim of this research was to analyze the souvenir and handicraft market at the Pantanos de Villa wetland in Lima (Peru), in order to propose innovative and appealing products that promote comfort, environmental awareness and sustainable practices. One of the main challenges addressed is the low level of perceived comfort reported by visitors when purchasing existing products. To this end, a methodology was applied that incorporated quantitative techniques in order to gather visitor feedback. Additionally, an empirical approach was included through the analysis of data obtained using a survey. The results of the research indicated that visitors prefer souvenirs with messages related to environmental protection, which contribute to raising awareness concerning the need to preserve the natural area. Furthermore, it was found that visitors value a greater variety of souvenirs that are both functional and authentic, reflecting the identity of the wetland. These findings suggest that the development of products focused on environmental protection and authenticity could improve visitor satisfaction and potentially increase the demand for souvenirs in this natural area. These conclusions have significant implications for the sustainable management of tourism at the Pantanos de Villa wetland and could serve as a guide for future product development strategies in other coastal wetland areas.
