COSMOLOGICAL RELATIONS IN THE NOVEL O SOM DO RUGIDO DA ONÇA (2021)

This article seeks to explore the cosmological relationships between human and non-human characters in the novel O som do rugido da onça (2021) by MichelinyVerunschk. Through a narrative analysis, it examines the connections between two Indigenous children (Iñe-e of the Miranha people and Caracara-í of the Juri people) and the aquatic entities Paranahuazú/Amazonas (in Brazilian territory) and Isar (in German territory). The recognition of these aquatic entities as cosmological beings can be understood through an analytical triad: their existence as materialities that integrate geographical and historical spaces; their active agency, revealing a cosmological consciousness that influences other materialities; and the life present within them, in a unique space where riverine cities exist, and the dead continue to dwell.
