Scientometric Study on Coffee or Tea Consumption and Stroke or Dementia: Emerging Patterns, Dynamism, and Networking

Abstract
Aim The study aims to evaluate the manifestations, dynamism, and coordination in the research community with regard to coffee or tea consumption and the risks for stroke or dementia. Method: This scientometric analysis covered the period from 2019 to 2024 and utilized the Scopus database for relevant documents. The search was done on December 9, 2024, and followed the systematic formula. Inclusion criteria were documents published between 2019 and 2024, in English, which addressed the relationship between coffee or tea intake and the risk for stroke or dementia. The initial search produced 1068 documents and categorized them into journal articles, books, book series, and conference proceedings. Data were exported to SciVal and then analyzed with Bibliometrix to calculate key bibliometric indicators, analyze institutional and country collaborations, and examine thematic evolution and trends using author key word. Results: The investigation showed an average increase of 10.37% each year based on 1068 documents published across 610 sources. On average, a document’s age was 2.28 years and each document had 16.72 citations. A large number of references (68,111) and author key word (2854) were identified. There were 5973 authors overall, 22.1% of whom had an international co-author. Harvard University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences were key institutions. Nutrients and Molecules were two of the most frequent publications. The country collaboration map shows obvious misrepresentation and underrepresentation collaborations, particularly for China and the United States. The most frequent terms showing in the selected, desired fields included "caffeine," "Alzheimer’s disease," and "oxidative stress," meaning that a focus on neurological health was present in this study. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest the ever-changing and interactive research aspect of this area, stemming from a greater interest in the health-related effects of coffee and tea consumption. This highlights the importance of international collaboration on the need for future research into these discussed relationships.
