Abstract

The disease of ischemic heart disease according to the World Health Organization is one of the leading causes of death in the world. According to previous research, the lobular cleft of the ear indicates the presence of ischemic heart disease. In this sense, an analysis is sought through image processing of the lobular slit in order to directly relate the main characteristics as well as the size and depth of this with the degree of advancement of the ischemic heart disease. This project develops the segmentation stage of the lobular cleft to be able to identify the area of interest. This purpose was achieved using image processing obtained from a Smartphone, and based on the mathematical software tool MATLAB, the results obtained show us the segmentation of each ear obtaining effectiveness of the 75% allowing the identification of the zone of interest (cleft), to be able to analyze it in a future process.
