Abstract

Coeliac disease is generally considered to be a disease of Europe, North America, and Australia. A series of well-authenticated cases from Cuba is presented. One of the factors responsible for the presence of this disease in Cuba may be the increase in wheat consumption in the last few years. It is likely that coeliac disease exists in other tropical countries.
